President Moon Jae-in invited Bong Joon-ho to attend the South Korean Presidential Palace (Cheong Wa Dae / Blue House) next week to express his appreciation after the Parasite director brought home four Oscars in 2020. Moon planned a banquet with Bong Joon-ho on Thursday (2/20). The day before, Bong Joon-ho was scheduled to hold a press conference. At that time, Moon said Bong Joon-ho’s big win at the Oscars was the accumulation and result of the development of the Korean film industry in the last 100 years. President Moon also stated the Parasite was a meaningful gift.

President Moon Jae-in stated that he is very happy with the success of the Parasite movie, and it can be a beginning for the Korean movie development in the international scale for the next 100 years. He also stated that he will always support this director along with the people.

In Oscar 2020, Bong Joon-ho with the Parasite team took home four trophies, namely for the category of the Best Film (Best Picture), Best Director (Best Director), Best Original Screenplay (Best Original Screenplay), and Best International Film (Best International Feature ).

Before the Oscars, Parasite also became the Best International Film in the Golden Globe 2020. Not only that, but all the Parasite film players also became the Best Players (Outstanding Performance by Cast in a Motion Picture) in the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award.
